Overall winner
Team: Shawhead Carbon Busters (Shawhead Primary School - Dumfries and Galloway)
Shawhead PS were very enterprising and creative in their approach to taking action to save the rainforest. The students held an eco evening where they educated families and friends about reducing their carbon footprint, saving energy at home and eco-friendly driving techniques. They also sold animal draught excluders made from old socks and paper logs made out of shredded junk mail.

Regional Scottish winner
Team: Global Kids (St Stephens Primary School - Nth Lanakshire)
St Stephens PS completed all three challenges. They students from Global Kids wrote and performed a play to the rest of the school about the issues the rainforest is facing, they also created an energy diary to understand how and where energy is used at home and school and put in place a rewards system for classes that turned off their lights.
Regional English winner
Team: Green Machine (Hellesdon High School - Norwich)
The Green Machine at Hellesdon High School established an awards and punishment scheme to encourage energy efficient behaviour in the school and home. Tutor groups that turned their lights off were rewarded with chocolate fingers and polar bear badges. They designed and made energy campaign badges and held a competition to name their polar bear mascot. They also encouraged families to take part in Earth Hour.
Scottish Highly Commended School
Teams: Eco-Girlz, Eco-Boyz and T.E.A. (Lomond School - Helensburgh)
For the joint efforts of all three teams, and with special mention to Eco-Girlz. They held a Fairtrade cake bake and made and created a Fairtrade cookbook to encourage families and friends to cook using Fairtrade ingredients at home. In addition they wrote letters to both Westminster and the Scottish Parliament to encourage them to start using Fairtrade products.
English Highly Commended Team
Team: Sustain (Andrews Boys School - Worthing)
For their overall dedication to the programme. They produced a play about the rainforest and presented it at a school assembly and also held an energy saving competition to see which form could save the most energy. For the Food We Eat challenge they held a Fairtrade coffee morning with Fairtrade sugar, tea and coffee and raised over £60.
