Amazonian tropical rainforest landscape in the Nouragues Nature Reserve

The current section is: Sky & WWF

With your help, we can make a difference for the environment.

Why are we working together?

Sky will use its presence in one in three homes to drive awareness of tropical deforestation and raise money through its programming and marketing reach. WWF will use nearly half a century of conservation expertise to develop and manage the project on the ground, allocate funds and work with government and local communities to ensure the campaign’s success.

Sky's strengths

Sky is a valued part of everyday life in almost 10 million homes. We entertain, excite and inspire our customers with a great choice of high-quality content. We make technology simple and put viewers in control of how they watch TV. We connect people to each other and to the world with our broadband and phone services.

Sky will use programming on channels such as Sky 1, Sky 2, Sky 3, Sky Movies, National Geographic and National Geographic Wild to raise awareness of the role of rainforests as well as our customer communications such as our customer magazine, Britain’s Number 1 entertainment magazine.

Sky will also match the public’s donations to the total of £4 million.

As a business, Sky has long recognised reducing environmental impact as a priority, and our presence in one in three households in the UK and Ireland means we have a responsibility and opportunity to inspire our customers to take action themselves.

WWF’s strengths

WWF’s expertise is in conservation and the environment, and we have gained worldwide credibility and respect for our work over nearly fifty years. We are an international organisation with offices all over the world, including the Amazonian heartland of Brazil.

WWF has been at the forefront of protecting the Amazon for more than 40 years.  Our staff on the ground have a deep knowledge of the region and close relationships with key people in the field, helping us to ensure that the project is delivered effectively.

WWF will use the trusted relationship it has built up with the Acre state government to ensure that your donation helps save the rainforest in Acre, Brazil.
